Our story

GriPuro stands for 'grip' and 'puro'. It’s a re-usable leather loop and stand.

  • GriP: This leather accessory can be wrapped around various objects. Your imagination is the limit. It allows you to have a better grip on things and use as a stand for certain items like e.g. a pen.
  • Puro: Spanish for ‘pure’. The main goal is to re-use materials if possible or use materials that are eco-friendly, such as recycled materials.

The logo isn’t just a G and a P combined in a random leaf. It’s an stylized leaf from the beech tree (Fagus Sylvatica). The beech tree is known for longevity, wisdom and patience. Germanic tribes used the beech tree to write and conserve messages for generations to come. In Greek mythology the beech tree is associated with Hermes, the messenger of the gods and protector of, among others, travelers, merchants, language,…

The nature of leather allows you to make your GriPuro loop truly yours. By using it you'll create specific marks linked to that special moment, that fond memory or that hilarious story.

Let GriPuro tell your story!

Materials

The materials used are as eco-friendly as possible.

Find out how we try to make a difference.

Leather

If possible we re-use leather from our partner who renovates the upholstery of classic cars. That’s why certain batches are limited, meaning there’s literally only a few pieces available depending on the usability of the leather.

Not every type of leather and not even every inch of the ‘right’ type of leather is usable for a GriPuro loop. So to guarantee continuity in quality as well as in quantity we also use ‘new’ leather from our partner-dealer.

Don't sweat the small stuff

Well, even for the 'small stuff' we have tried to look for eco-friendly solutions:

  • For example the elastic is 60% natural rubber (FSC certified) wrapped with 40% cotton (from certified organic farming).
  • The yarn used to attach the hook is made of rPET (recycled PET-material).
  • The hook is new but it’s from a manufacturer who specifically doesn’t use plastic packaging.
  • Even the glue, used to make sure the ends of the yarn do not unravel, is basically liquid Acacia gum.

Packaging

And finally the packaging. We like the packaging to be as eco-friendly as possible. This means that the packaging is made of recycled materials or that the packaging could be re-used by you. Ideally both.

We’re still experimenting with packaging to find a nice compromise between our values, costs and ecological footprint with regards to shipping.

Manufacturing

The GriPuro loop is cut and engraved with a laser. All other steps in the process are done by hand such as cleaning, polishing and the final assembly. One might say this is tedious but this allows us to inspect every loop and therefore ensuring the quality GriPuro is aiming for.
